Featuring Silas Hsu, winner of the Friends of Music Concerto Competition

Silas Hsu is a St. Louis native who started piano when he was six years old, studying under Zena Ilyashov and Jennifer Spohr. During middle school and high school he completed the Grade 8 level of the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program, and achieved I ratings at the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) state auditions and Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Music Festivals. In 2012, Silas received first place at the St. Louis Young Artist Competition.  In addition to competing, he has been a guest performer at the Ethical Society of St. Louis and Sheldon Concert Hall. 

Silas is currently in his third year studying piano with Amanda Kirkpatrick at Washington University.  Majoring in both computer science and music, he hopes to continue his piano studies while pursuing a career in computer programming.
