Caleb is a second-year graduate student in Musicology. He received the BA in Music at the University of Alabama and the MA in Music History and Literature at Arizona State University. His research interests include music and politics of the early twentieth century, exile studies, music and film, jazz, and cultural studies of the American South. He has presented papers on Hanns Eisler and Viktor Ullmann at several conferences, including Music and the Moving Image IX at New York University (May 2014) and Neue Sachlichkeit, Political Music, or Vernacular Avant-garde? at the University of Copenhagen (September 2015). His first article "From Proletarian Champion to Modernist Artist: Eisler in the American Concert Hall, 1935-8" was published in Eisler-Mitteilungen 57 (April 2014). He enjoys singing and playing the guitar, and he has one child: a beagle named Dandy Warhol.
