CANCELLED: Great Artists Series 17-18: Katia and Marielle Labèque, pianos
The Department of Music regrets to announce that Katia and Marielle Labèque have had to cancel their concert at Washington University on Sunday January 28, 2018. Katia Labèque has developed a major infection caused by the flu and she is unable to fly from Paris at this time. We send our best to Ms. Labèque for a speedy and complete recovery. Unfortunately, we are unable to reschedule this performance.
We hope you can join us at a future Department of Music event and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. See below for ticket refund information.
Patrons that have purchased tickets for this concert have several options for refunds or exchanges:
REFUND
If you would like a refund, please contact the Edison Box Office at edison@wustl.edu or 314-935-6543 and we will process your refund.
· If you paid by credit card, you will be notified by email when the refund has been issued
· If you paid by cash or check, we will issue a check and mail it to the address on file.
We will begin processing refunds when you notify us of your preference. If we do not hear from you directly within the next 14 days, we will automatically process a refund. Please be patient as we work through the refund process.
EXCHANGE
If you would like to exchange your tickets for one of the remaining Great Artists Series events, we will be happy to process that for you. There are no additional costs for an exchange and we will make every effort to give you the best possible seats available. Here are the remaining performances:

You will receive an email notification when the new tickets have been issued, and we will send you the new tickets once they are processed.

Biography:
Recently announced to have joined the prestigious recording label Deutsche Grammophon, Katia and Marielle Labèque are sibling pianists renowned for their ensemble of synchronicity and energy. Their musical ambitions started at an early age and they rose to international fame with their contemporary rendition of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (one of the first gold records in classical music) and have since developed a stunning career with performances worldwide.
They are regular guests with the most prestigious orchestras of Europe and America with conductors including Semyon Bychkov, Lionel Bringuier, Sir Colin Davis, Gustavo Dudamel, Charles Dutoit, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Kristjan Jarvi, Pavo Jarvi, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano, Georges Prêtre, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Leonard Slatkin, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Jaap Van Zweden.
They have appeared with Baroque music ensembles such as The English Baroque Soloists with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Il Giardino Armonico with Giovanni Antonini, Musica Antica with Reinhard Goebel, and Venice Baroque with Andrea Marcon. As well, they recently toured with Age of Enlightenment and Sir Simon Rattle.
Given their commitment to contemporary music, Katia and Marielle have had the privilege of working with many composers including Louis Andriessen, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Philip Glass, Osvaldo Golijov, György Ligeti, Olivier Messiaen. In May 2015 they presented the world premiere of Philip Glass' Concerto written for them with the LA Philharmonic under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.
The Labèques play in major festivals and venues worldwide. A record audience of more than 33,000 attended a gala concert with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle at Berlin’s Waldbühne, now available on EuroArts DVD. For their own label KML recordings, they have most recently released Sisters on KML Recordings which features a selection of musical pieces from their personal and professional lives. Their first release under the new DG agreement will be music of Stravinsky and Debussy at the end of 2016.
The Vienna Philharmonic's annual summer concert at Schoenbrunn in June 2016 in which they were soloists drew a crowd of 100,000 with an additional audience of 1.5 million TV viewers (now available on CD and DVD for Sony).
