Five students from Washington University in St. Louis have been selected for the 2020 Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-Collegiate Band.
Five students from Washington University in St. Louis have been selected for the 2020 Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-Collegiate Band. Cameron Perrin, Daniel McLean, Emily Rehmann, Trevor Schultz, and Annemarie Michael, all members of the Washington University Wind Ensemble, will be performing with the All-Collegiate Band this January. The five student musicians were nominated for the honor by Chris Becker, Director of the Wind Ensemble, based on their exemplary performances in multiple Music Department concerts and recitals.
At their annual conference, MMEA presents a special performance by one All-Collegiate ensemble. In a four-year rotation, the All-Collegiate Band, Orchestra, Choir, or Jazz Band, each made up of the finest musicians attending Missouri's colleges and universities, rehearses and performs under the direction of a nationally known clinician-conductor. For the January, 2020, Annual Conference, MMEA will feature the All-Collegiate Band under the direction of Dr. Allan McMurray, Distinguished Professor and Professor Emeritus of Conducting at the University of Colorado - Boulder. Over 80 students from 2 year and 4 year schools across Missouri will come together beginning the evening of Wednesday, January 22 through the performance on the evening of Friday, January 24, 2020.
Works to be performed include "Festive Overture", by Dmitri Shostakovich, transcribed by Donald Hunsberger, and "An American Elegy", by Frank Ticheli.
