Remembering Sarah Bryan Miller

Sarah Bryan Miller

"St. Louis Post-Dispatch classical music critic Sarah Bryan Miller was a great friend to the Washington University Department of Music. Together with the entire St. Louis classical music community, we mourn her passing this past Saturday.

Bryan was an important advocate for the recent renovation of the Des Lee Concert Hall in the 560 Music Center and, even more so, for our Great Artists Series. She was excited about the series, spread the word each season, and reviewed as many concerts as she could. Bryan’s coverage drew audiences to campus and helped weave Washington University more tightly into the St. Louis classical music scene. We are grateful for Bryan's exacting ear, high standards, and unfailing support for classical music in our city.

The Department of Music is proud to be among the consortium of six area choral organizations (led by the St. Louis Chamber Chorus) who recently commissioned a setting of Psalm 121 by composer Judith Bingham in Bryan’s honor."
