An update on the 2020-2021 Great Artists Series

Dear Friends,

As we all continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, the Music Department at Washington University has been honored by the staunch dedication of our students, faculty, colleagues and supporters. This university remains a vibrant place for high-caliber music making. Our buildings and studios - some of which we recently retrofitted to enable socially distanced collaboration - still resound with lessons and rehearsals.

Sadly, however, uncertainty about when public events will be safely possible means that our in-person concert offerings - including the annual Great Artists series, always a season highlight - continue to be on hold for the remainder of the academic year.

Nevertheless, sharing music with the wider community is vital to our work, and we hope to resume public performances with the 2021-22 concert season. Indeed, next season will mark the Music Department's 75th anniversary, and we anticipate a banner year. Though safety will remain our highest priority - and plans for staging events will be meticulously vetted by university infectious disease experts - we look forward to welcoming you back to the 560, to a stellar list of Great Artists and to experiencing live music together again!

Sincerely,

Alexander Stefaniak
