Parkorn Wangpaiboonkit, Assistant Professor of Musicology, won the American Musicological Society's Alfred Einstein Award, presented for his Opera Quarterly article "Voice, Race, and Imperial Ethnology in Colonial Siam: Madama Butterfly at the Court of Chulalongkorn."   The annual award honors the best article in musicology by an early-career scholar.
