Sasha teaches percussion lessons.
St. Louis native Sasha Luthy is a freelance percussionist and timpanist in the St. Louis area. She plays frequently with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, with whom she has performed on tour in Vienna, Brussels, Eindhoven, Amsterdam, and Madrid, and can be heard on their newly released album featuring acclaimed solo violinist James Ehnes.
Sasha is also an Associate Musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, where she has shared the stage with such stars as Nas, Ben Folds, Renée Fleming, and Andrea Bocelli.
As a teacher, Sasha works with local high schools (including her alma mater: Lindbergh High School!) coaching the percussion sections of concert and marching band programs. She also maintains a private studio of students in addition to teaching applied lessons at Washington University in St. Louis.
A talented chamber and solo musician in her own right, Sasha performed at the PASIC Percussion Ensemble Showcase as part of the Northwestern University Percussion Ensemble and was a semi-finalist at the Modern Snare Drum Competition.
Sasha attended the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University (B.M.) and completed her graduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M.). She studied primarily with Marc Damoulakis, Christopher Lamb, and She-e Wu. In 2021, she was a Brevard Music Festival fellow where she studied with Jeremy Epp, Michael Kemp, and Gwendolyn Dease.
Sasha lives in the Grove, where she enjoys riding her bike and drinking fancy coffee.
