Dominic Anthony Cheli is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California.  Mr. Cheli attained his Master of Music degree from Yale University, studying with Mr. Peter Frankl, in May, 2016.  He was awarded the Elizabeth Parisot Prize for being “an outstanding pianist in the Yale School of Music.”  Mr. Cheli was a semifinalist in the 2014 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and a winner of the 2014 Artist Presentation Society Auditions in St. Louis, Missouri.  

Mr. Cheli has been actively performing in New York City and St. Louis at various venues including Carnegie Hall, (Le) Poisson Rouge, and the Sheldon. Recently, he performed on Bob Sherman’s McGraw Hill Financial Young Artists Showcase with violinist Asi Matathias on WQXR, New York’s classical music radio station.  Interested in sharing his passion for music with younger audiences, Mr. Cheli performed in the concert series “Baby Got Bach” at the invitation of Ms. Orli Shaham. 

Mr. Cheli began his musical training in St. Louis, Missouri with Ms. Zena Ilyashov, and he participated in the Preparatory Program for three years through the Community Music School under the direction of Ms. Vera Parkin. He continued his studies at the Manhattan School of Music where he studied piano with Mr. Andre-Michel Schub, and chamber music with Ms. Sylvia Rosenberg. Upon graduating from the Manhattan School of Music in May 2014, Mr. Cheli received the Harold Bauer Award, “given to one graduating student in recognition of outstanding accomplishment, cooperation, and promise.”  In spring, 2015, Yale University selected Mr. Cheli as the recipient of the Charles S. Miller Prize given to “a gifted pianist who has done outstanding work.” Mr. Cheli recently recorded various works of Muzio Clementi for Naxos.
