Biography:
Gabi Grasso is a senior undergraduate in the college of arts and sciences at WashU, double majoring in psychology and music with a minor in writing. She has been playing the trumpet for twelve years, and studied under Mary Weber and Chris Becker at WashU, participating in the Symphony Orchestra under Darwin Aquino and the Wind Ensemble under Chris Becker all eight semesters at WashU. She also played in the pit orchestras for two Performing Arts Department musicals and two Cast N’ Crew (student run musical theater group) musicals and looks forward to another show this semester! She competed in the Friends of Music Concerto Competition in 2023, has been an executive board member of the Bear Nation Varsity Band (WashU’s pep band) throughout college, and performed for various religious services around St. Louis in her spare time. Outside of playing the trumpet, she works in the Emotion and Mental Health lab through the psych department as a research assistant, is a student worker at the Gaylord Music Library, and is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, WashU’s coed community service fraternity. After graduation, she plans on taking a gap year before applying to psychology doctorate programs and continuing to play the trumpet wherever and whenever she can! She is immensely grateful for her mentors, friends, and family who have supported her throughout her time at WashU!
