International sensations Amy Porter (flute), João Luiz (guitar), and Juan-Miguel Hernandez (viola), together known as TRIO VIRADO, are taking the role of instrumental chamber music to new heights. Their repertoire breaks boundaries between cultures and genres: from 21st-century premieres to Latin tangos to works from the classical canon arranged by João Luiz and others. A unique assemblage of veteran performers, TRIO VIRADO brings excitement to live concerts, and they are equally impressive in educational settings at schools and universities.

Each of the TRIO VIRADO musicians has appeared in major classical music venues throughout the world and is managed individually by New York-based Sciolino Artists Management (SAM). The trio was formed in 2013 at the suggestion SAM Executive Director Marianne Sciolino. American flutist Amy Porter graduated from The Juilliard School and was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra before becoming a sought-after soloist and a professor of flute at the University of Michigan. She has won three major international grand prizes, and has an impressive array of CDs, DVD teaching guides, and printed publications. João Luiz, also a member of the Brasil Guitar Duo, graduated from Mannes College the New School for Music and Manhattan School of Music. He heads the guitar department at the State University of New York-Purchase and is an adjunct faculty member at New Jersey City University. Originally from São Paolo, João and his duo partner, Douglas Lora, recently performed in Cuba with cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Carlos Prieto. Canadian-born violist Juan-Miguel Hernandez graduated from The Colburn School in Los Angeles and was an original member of the Harlem Quartet before joining the Fine Arts Quartet in 2014. In 2009, Juan-Miguel was grand-prize winner of the Brahms International Viola Competition.

TRIO VIRADO’s long-awaited debut album, “Mangabeira,” was released in October 2015 and includes premieres by Paquito D'Rivera, João Luiz, Frederic Hand, and Sergio Assad.
