The Department of Music is sad to note that Roland C. Jordan, Professor Emeritus of Music, passed away on May 18 at the age of 84. Professor Jordan joined the WashU faculty in 1973, shortly after earning his PhD in our department, and he played a vital role in the Department of Music until his retirement in 2004. He will be remembered as a gifted composer and music theorist and as a kind and generous teacher and mentor.
